Losec Extra tablets are for the short-term relief of reflux-like symptoms. These symptoms may include a burning feeling rising up from the stomach or chest (heartburn), or acid regurgitation.
When you experience that burning sensation of heartburn more than once a week and then find yourself constantly treating it with an antacid, heartburn can become a pain in more ways than one. The good news is that with Losec you may not have to put up with heartburn any longer.

The reason Losec is so good at treating heartburn is because of the way it works. It’s a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) which means it’s able to turn off tiny acid-producing pumps in the stomach. With less acid being produced, it’s less likely to rise up through the esophageal sphincter and irritate the sensitive tissue inside the esophagus itself. Antacids, on the other hand, neutralize stomach acid for temporary relief rather than target acid production at the source.
Besides Losec being able to target heartburn at its source, it has another ace up its sleeve - MUPS, or Multi-Unit Pellet System. This enables each Losec tablet to be absorbed by the body efficiently. Once the tablet is ingested, it dissolves in the stomach into hundreds of tiny micro-pellets all containing the active ingredient omeprazole. These micro-pellets allow the active ingredient to be efficiently absorbed into the body.
