Certified organic Raspberry Leaf loose tea 200g
Of all the herbs used by pregnant mums, raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) is the most well-known. Raspberry leaf is not only rich in vitamins and minerals, it also contains flavonoids, gallotannins and ellagitannins, which tone the pelvic muscles and the uterus itself.
A double-blind study of 192 women – who took raspberry leaf from 32 weeks – confirmed there were no adverse effects. The second stage of labour was, however, shortened by an average of 9.6 minutes and a lower rate of forceps delivery was also noted in the raspberry leaf group.
Manutuke Herbs recommendes starting with a cup of Raspberry Leaf tea between 32 (if already had children / uterus may need more tonning) and 34 weeks (if not given birth) increasing a cup a week up until delivery. So by 40 weeks gestation you may be drinking 6 cups a day. You can keep in a the fridge pre-made and drink as desired during the day.
Double-blind studies have proved herbs really do help during pregnancy. Raspberry leaf tea, for instance, lowers the chance of a forceps delivery. Herbs offer vitamins and minerals in their natural form, so serve as a nutritional tonic. But some have specific actions – to help relieve morning sickness, for instance, to increase milk flow in nursing mothers, or to prepare the uterus for delivery. Manutuke Herbs make a specific Milk Flow tea – so check that out for a mixed herb blend specifically for increasing milk supply.
